A man found wandering Coral Springs in his underwear was arrested on stalking charges after a victim reported his longtime harassment had culminated with an uninvited knock on her door.
On August 29, the Coral Springs Police Department responded to a 911 call of a reported stalking incident that a victim described to officers a series of disturbing actions by her stalker stringing over many months.
According to records, officers responded to an area located near the 800 block of Ramblewood Drive after the caller described the suspect, later identified as Nichola Perrelli, 52, of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, who was reportedly wearing a black shirt and boxer-brief underwear.
Upon their arrival at the intersection of Northwest 9th Street and Ramblewood Drive, officers made contact with Perrelli, who claimed to be in the area due to an error by his Uber driver. Pressed on details of his story, he stated that he was on vacation, shopping at a nearby TJ Maxx, and trying to call an Uber to return to his motel in Hollywood.
Officers noted in the eventual arrest report that they found Perrelli’s explanation questionable, as the area he was located in is primarily residential with no businesses nearby, and, as the caller described, he was wearing only underwear, which he claimed were gym shorts.
When questioned further, Perrelli could not provide a valid reason for being in the vicinity.
Further investigation by officers revealed Perrelli to be a longtime stalker of the victim. The victim told officers she had known Perrelli for approximately six years. In December 2022, his harassment began after he delivered food to her residence without her providing him with her address.
On August 4, Perrelli sent another unsolicited food delivery and instructed the driver to inquire about the victim’s son, information she had not disclosed to him.
On August 16, Perrelli repeatedly called the victim’s place of employment, even after her employer had already been notified of the situation and had barred Perrelli from contacting her.
On August 25, Perrelli arrived at her workplace in person, leading to a disturbance after being denied entry.
The victim, fearing for her safety, contacted the Coral Springs Police Department on August 26 and 27, 2023, to report these incidents, and subsequently, on August 28, she filed for a restraining order against Perrelli, which was granted as a temporary injunction for protection against stalking.
On August 29, Perrelli appeared at the victim’s residence in Coral Springs. He knocked on her front door twice and then paced back and forth on the sidewalk. Worried for her safety, she once again called the police for assistance.
Perrelli was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
