A Tamarac man was arrested and charged with stalking, harassment, lewd, and lascivious behavior after chasing a woman on a walk while masturbating.
On July 3, the Broward County Sheriff’s Office responded to an area near the vicinity of 5201 North State Road 7 to investigate reports of the man.
According to the arrest report, the victim alleged a man, later identified as Daudi Brown, 21, of Tamarac, had been walking back and forth, touching himself in the same area she was walking before he began following her as she attempted to leave.
Realizing she was being pursued, the victim recounted to deputies how she attempted to flee, but to her alarm, when she looked back, Brown ran toward her with one hand inside his shorts, engaging in aggressive and inappropriate movements consistent with masturbation.
Records show Brown chased the victim for some time and continued to follow her as she entered a residential area to seek help.
At one point during the chase, the victim told deputies Brown even requested a cigarette and her cellphone number.
The victim told law enforcement she was able to seek shelter at an apartment clubhouse located near the 5100 block of Island Club Drive and that Brown finally relinquished his pursuit with others around.
Exhausted, the victim told deputies she collapsed on the floor of the clubhouse and dialed 911, telling emergency personnel in Spanish, “I walked as fast as I can, but I’m an old lady.”
The arrest report shows deputies who responded to the scene searched the area and found a man that fit the victim’s description of Brown sitting near a lake with one arm and his hand still inside his shorts, again, seemingly masturbating in public.
Brown was immediately detained, and after the victim confirmed his identity, he was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
During his transport to jail, records show Brown claimed to deputies he had not been chasing the victim, adding, “I was not touching myself.”
Following his arrest, a mental health evaluation was ordered for Brown.
