Give a shelter pet a gift of a holiday with a loving family this December.
The Humane Society of Broward County is asking residents to take a dog, a cat, or a rabbit home for the winter holidays and give the pets a much-needed relief from the shelter environment.
Cherie Wachter, Humane Society’s VP of Marketing, said adult animals will be available for two-week holiday sleepovers starting December 20.
“This gives the pets a break from being in the shelter and lets them get spoiled. Of course, the ultimate goal is for the pet to spend not just this holiday season in their temporary home but many more future holidays as well,” she added.
Pets available for extended sleepovers include several who have been passed by for no apparent reason. Once in a home environment, they relax and want to be a part of the family.
The Humane Society is also running a Holiday Bone Drive all month to collect safe chew bones for the shelter dogs and hosting Ralphie’s Holiday Shop on December 9 and 10 with affordable gifts for the whole family and photo opportunities for kids and pups.

Call 954-989-3977 ext. 6 with questions.
“Whatever holiday you celebrate, a holiday sleepover could be what you and a shelter pet need to make this special time of year sparkle,” Wachter said.
