A woman was arrested at Fort Lauderdale Airport before she could board her flight after stabbing a man with a screwdriver and forcing him to drive her to the airport.
According to Broward County Sheriff’s Office records, on May 22, a domestic altercation at a residence in Lauderhill escalated into a violent confrontation resulting in the arrest of Jacquelyn Knox, 34, of Dearborn Heights, Michigan, on charges of aggravated domestic battery, false imprisonment, and obstructing justice by hindering 911 services.
According to arrest reports, the incident began as a verbal argument between Knox and the victim, who were in a romantic relationship.
During the altercation, Knox demanded $1,000 from the victim. When he refused, Knox picked up a candle and threw it at him, causing a minor laceration on his right hand. Knox then proceeded to throw the candle at the victim’s television, damaging it.
As the situation escalated, BSO records show the victim attempted to call 911, but Knox, realizing the victim was attempting to make an emergency call, tried to steal his phone and began striking him in the head with a closed fist, resulting in an abrasion to his left eye.
The confrontation turned more violent when the victim struck Knox in her right eye, causing an abrasion. In retaliation, Knox retrieved a screwdriver and stabbed the victim multiple times in his shoulders and rib cage, according to police.
The victim, fearing for his life, agreed to drive Knox to the airport as she demanded, with the screwdriver still in her possession as she sat in the passenger seat. According to BSO records, Knox was arrested by Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies at the FLL airport before she could board a flight.
Knox was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail. She was later released from custody after posting a $33,000 bond.
