A Coral Springs man is facing federal charges for possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, distributing a controlled substance, and possession of a firearm in a drug trafficking crime.
James Nevin Moorman, 62, of the 8200 block of NW 51 Manor, faces a minimum sentence of 15 years and a maximum of life in prison.
According to the indictment, in August 2022, law enforcement conducted two controlled buys with Moorman, where he sold approximately 100 grams of fentanyl to a confidential source.
The following month, the confidential source and an undercover officer successfully purchased 266 grams of fentanyl from Moorman on a single occasion.
In January 2023, law enforcement executed a search warrant on Moorman’s storage unit. It seized over one kilogram of fentanyl, more than 500 grams of cocaine, an assortment of pills, and two AR-style rifles, one of which was a machine gun.
U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, Markenzy Lapointe, and Special Agent in Charge Christopher A. Robinson, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), Miami Field Division, announced the arrest.
The ATF, Miami Field Division, is investigating the case with assistance from the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
