The Danielle DeMarzo Foundation is racing into 2026 with a new fundraiser to generate even more support and fun activities for the children and families it serves.
The PMI South Florida’s second annual Lace Up for the Future 5K Run/Jog/Walk at Markham Park in Sunrise on April 18 benefits the foundation started in 2000 by Frank and Jeannie DeMarzo of Coral Springs, and their two daughters, Jennifer and Danielle.
“As 2025 comes to an end, life gives us a chance to reflect on the past year and how we made and will continue to make a difference in the lives of special needs children and their families,” Jeannie DeMarzo said. “This race will allow us to continue making a difference. DDF is still going strong and will continue to host social activities and events as well as all of our programs through 2026.”
The primary objective of the PMI South Florida 5K Run for the Future is to raise awareness for career opportunities available to youth and to raise funds that will support community initiatives focused on assisting young individuals in their development.
“The Danielle DeMarzo Foundation was selected for its substantial contributions to the community, particularly through the provision of scholarships and various opportunities,” said Tamyka Silva, PMI Director of Programs. “We recognize the importance of supporting an organization that is committed to fostering the success of future generations and empowering children to achieve their goals.”
The Danielle DeMarzo Foundation is a recognized nonprofit organization dedicated to providing resources and activities for children with growth-related disorders and individuals with special needs. DDF is committed to providing resources and activities to support these children and affected individuals.
The goal is to create parity amongst individuals with similar differences by providing access to a broad range of health, social, and educational resources through recreation, seminars, programs, and public awareness.
Some of the DDF highlights in 2025 include a “Special Day For Special Kids” at Opa-locka Airport that provided a private plane ride over Miami Beach for families. Continuing into the summer months, DDF hosted several social events for the families, including two Christmas in July events with visits from Santa and gifts for all the children, and DDF’s Annual Miami Dolphins Family Game Days.
In November, DDF distributed Thanksgiving Baskets overflowing with all the fixings for a bountiful, blessed holiday meal to all its families and others in need.
The year wrapped up in December with a Pancake Breakfast with Santa and gifts for DDF’s families and children.
