Commander Tom Melville {City of Coral Springs}

The City of Coral Springs, in partnership with the Veterans Coalition of Coral Springs, invites the community to its annual Veterans Day Ceremony.
The event will take place on Saturday, November 11, at Veterans Park, located at 8601 Royal Palm Blvd, starting at 10:45 a.m., to pay tribute to the brave men and women who have served in the United States military.
The ceremony will feature Commander Tom Melville, a Naval Reserve veteran, as the guest speaker.
Melville’s notable military career spanned from 1966 to 1993, including two combat tours in Southeast Asia aboard the U.S.S. Coral Sea and distinguished service in Naval Reserve Intelligence units.
His commendations include a Letter of Commendation and nine campaign medals and ribbons.
A respected member of the local veteran community, Melville contributes to various military organizations and resides in Coral Springs with his wife, Joanne.
Mayor Scott Brook will also be present to deliver remarks and personally acknowledge the veterans and their families.
The ceremony will also incorporate a series of tributes, including the Laying of the Wreath and Presentation of Colors by the Coral Springs Cadet Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol, as well as the Coral Springs Police Honor Guard, culminating with the playing of Taps/Salute Volley.
The city is dedicated to honoring its veterans through numerous initiatives, such as the Hometown Heroes Banner program and commemorative bricks. Details on these initiatives can be found at CoralSprings.gov/Veterans.
In the event of rain, the ceremony will be relocated to Veterans Hall at 2521 Coral Springs Drive.
