Coral Springs Native Jason Preston Signs Deal With Utah Jazz

Coral Springs continues to produce incredible talent and officially had one of their own sign a contract with the Utah Jazz.

Jason Preston, born in Coral Springs, played high school basketball at William R Boone High School in Orlando. Despite averaging only two points per game in high school and not receiving any offers, Preston attended Ohio University and spent three years in college. He started by being named to the conference freshman team and was selected to the Second Team All-Conference his second year before making the first team as a junior. He was also named the Conference Tournament Most Valuable Player.

Preston averaged over 16 points per game as a sophomore and junior during college. He was selected in the second round of the 2021 NBA Draft by the Orlando Magic and was immediately traded to the Las Angeles Clippers. He went on to sign a three-year rookie-scale contract but suffered a season-ending injury later that season. Preston made his NBA debut, playing three minutes in a 112–95 loss to the Phoenix Suns and then scored his first points in the NBA in a victory over the Portland Trailblazers.

He scored a career 12 points in a game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, playing 37 minutes, but was waived at the start of the 2023 season. The Memphis Grizzlies also waived him, but he has shined in the G-League to earn his spot in the NBA but has yet to appear in a game for the Jazz.
