A Coral Springs man faces a series of severe first-degree felony charges, including assault with a deadly weapon and false imprisonment, following a violent assault that resulted in his ex-girlfriend being hospitalized with significant injuries.
On August 25, the Coral Springs Police Department responded to the scene of a reported domestic battery involving a deadly weapon and a victim being held against her will.
Before the officer’s arrival, dispatch informed the CSPD that the victim’s neighbor had called 911 after the victim had sought refuge in their home following the assault.
Upon arrival, the neighbor recounted to officers that they had heard desperate cries for help coming from the victim’s residence and encountered her in desperate need of help upon opening their front door.
According to the police report, the victim reported that her live-in boyfriend, later identified as Clint George, 31, of Coral Springs, had allegedly assaulted her during an argument over her plans to move out.
The victim told officers that George became furious over her move-out plans. While she was packing her belongings, he allegedly began punching her repeatedly in the face, threw her to the ground, placed his arm around her neck, and began choking her.
According to the victim, the assault took an even more terrifying turn when, according to the victim, George pulled out a handgun, chambered a round, and pointed the weapon at her head. George allegedly struck her in the face with the gun handle several times and hit her on the back of the head.
As the victim attempted to call for help, he destroyed her phone and managed to escape. Still, George caught up to her and reportedly continued beating her until she managed to break free and flee the residence on foot, seeking assistance from a neighbor.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found the victim had injuries consistent with her account of being struck with a pistol, strangled, and beaten with a closed fist. She was bleeding from her nose and had numerous scratches and discoloration marks on her face and neck.
Officers surrounded the residence and ordered George to exit before force was used to enter and take him into custody. After a short time, he complied and was detained for further investigation.
With George in custody, officers swept the residence, found multiple underage witnesses in the home at the time, and reported hearing screams from upstairs.
According to one witness, when she went to investigate, she saw George holding a belt and was instructed to return downstairs, then witnessed the victim fleeing the residence.
Another child reportedly witnessed the attack and claimed to have seen him place a firearm in the kitchen cabinet.
The victim was transported to a local hospital by Coral Springs Fire Rescue, where she received treatment for multiple injuries to her face, neck, arms, and legs.
George declined to speak with the police and was subsequently arrested and transported to the Broward Sheriff’s Office Main Jail, where he is currently being held without bond.
