Coral Springs Charter continued their busy week with a pair of teams competing in the postseason while their soccer teams began their year.
The cross country team impressed in Regionals, with the girls finishing in ninth place. Lily Richardson finished 16th, followed by Kendall Parrott, while Abby Foster, Brooke Schwartz, Hailey Lockwitz, Taylor Hartley, and Marissa Micioni raced. Eli Groothius set a personal best time for the boys team at 18.21.96 and finished 45th.
“The team ran fantastic,” Head Coach Brantley Barr said. “Not a senior among the girls. They came a very long way this season and are already looking forward to next fall. Now that the first year together is done, the growth as athletes can be enormous. Very excited about the future.”

The boys soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against Archbishop McCarthy High School, with Alex Rosano scoring the lone goal for the Panthers on Wednesday. The rest of the team consists of Brandon Moll, Elijah McDonald, Jonathan Hoyow, Jaxson Goldstein, Lucas Yahney, Brandon Valdez, Thomas Givens, Emmanuel Matos, Alejandro Ruiz, JJ Klovadoski, Jonathan Lupo, Gerald Tibbetts, Connor Mackinlay-Barish, James Camacho, Bryson Stawicki, Franz Alt and Nicolas Campbell.
On Wednesday, the girls soccer team lost 1-0 against Archbishop McCarthy High School. After having several seniors graduate, their team consists of Isabella Ruiz, Katianna Grace, Arianna Esteban, Elise McDonald, Maria Rojas, Rylie Gentile, Sophie Ribeiro, Abigail Gilette, Kayla Kreisler, Marissa Micioni, Abigail Foster, Nia Etienne, Addison Capplis, Riley Guerrera, Lyric Lightfoot Smith, Sophia Ruiz, and Camila Ruiz.
These two teams combined to win 19 games last year and will play Westminster Academy in their next game on Monday, November 13, with the girls starting at 4 p.m. and the boys at 6 p.m.
John Albornoz and Marianna Montes were the two swimmers to compete in the State Championship. Albornoz placed 23rd and 24th in the 200-yard IM and 500-yard freestyle in his races, while Montes came in 24th 500-yard freestyle.
