{Coral Springs Charter Athletics}

Coral Springs Charter’s fall sports teams were active this week, with the boys’ cross country team winning their inaugural race.
Cross Country
They participated in the BCAA XC Week One competition at Tradewinds and finished in first place for both teams on Tuesday. Lily Richardson placed first for the girls at 23:21.8, and Kendall Parrott came in second. Mackenzie Maniscalco, Abby Foster, and Brooke Schwartz completed their race in the top eight. Hailey Lockwitz, Anabella Thornberry, and Aliyah Rhoden finished in the top 20. At the same time, Isabella Patino, Joni Andrews, Sophia Quinones, Rowen Aarhus, Saray Romero, and Jasmine Grbic were the next seven Panthers to finish.
Eli Groothuis led the boys and placed second individually at 19:24.2. Chris Gayle, Lucas Werth, and Jordan Head finished Wirth nearly identical times. Shaun Blum, Austin Stewart, Tommy Foster. Beylian De Jesus, Shivam Rangoo, Justin Stawicki, Aiden Lintz, and Blake Weter also ran for CSC, with Blum, Stewart, and Foster in the top 20.
Football
The football team’s tough start continued with a loss to Ransom Everglades High School. This is the first time since 2007 that the Panthers have started 0-3.
Next, CSC will have a week off before they play Pompano Beach High School on Thursday, September 21, at 7 p.m. The Golden Tornados recorded their first victory against Marathon High School after winning five games last season.
Volleyball
The girls volleyball team also played in two matches and dropped both matches and are 1-5. They lost in five sets against South Plantation High School on Tuesday before being swept by Cardinal Gibbons on Thursday. They will play Pompano Beach High School on Monday, September 11, at 4:30 p.m. The Golden Eagles are 1-3 this year, with their only victory against Charles W. Flanagan High School.
The girls bowling team continued their strong start to the season. They are now 8-0 this year and are averaging a team score of 632. At the same time, the boys have yet to win a match competing against J.P. Taravella, Marjory Stoneman Douglas, Coral Glades, Coral Springs High School, and American Heritage.
