Commercial Boulevard near the North Pine Island Road intersection will undergo repaving, with nightly lane closures anticipated.
The construction work will start on April 21 and continue until May 30. To reduce inconvenience to the nearby Discovery Elementary and Millenium Middle Schools, most of the work will occur during the night, between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.
“Only a small section of the Commercial Boulevard will be affected at the time. The plan is to start closing the lanes at 8 p.m. every night and take off just enough asphalt so we can repave it the same night,” said Elliott Leighton, Director of Broward County Highway & Bridge Maintenance Division.
“In the morning, people will see the results of the work we did, but the lanes will be open for the traffic,” he added.
Even at night, at least one lane in the westbound direction of Commercial Boulevard will remain open to traffic, and access to businesses and driveways will be maintained.
