Coconut Creek’s Parks and Recreation Department is gearing up for its much-anticipated annual event, the 5K Butterfly Run is set for action on Sunday, February 4, and as of press time, only 100 spots remain.
The event is inclusive and family-friendly, welcoming walkers and those with strollers, although they will be positioned towards the end of the race pack for safety. However, pets are not allowed on the race course.
Also, at the Butterfly Run, a DJ, Grab-and-Go breakfast, and sponsor stations offer various giveaways. Attendees are encouraged to don butterfly-themed attire, and the race is open to all ages.
Awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers in each age category. Special recognition will also be given to the top three male and female finishers and the first male and female Masters, Grand Masters, and Coconut Creek resident finishers.
The event takes place at Tradewinds Park, located at 3600 West Sample Road. Check-in begins at 5:30 a.m., with the race starting promptly at 7:00 a.m. Friends and supporters are welcome to cheer on the participants, although entry to the park will be closed after 6:50 a.m.
Participants can register online at ButterflyRun.com.
Those interested in becoming a sponsor can reach out at 954-545-6650. The registration fee is $30 for ages 18 and up and $15 for those 17 and under. Registration will remain open until full or through February 3, but space is limited.
