High School football returned, with three teams competing in their spring game, and one player received a special invite to a bowl game.
Coconut Creek competed in the Palm Beach Gardens Springs Jamboree and played against Norland High School. The Cougars lost 6-0, allowing a touchdown in the final 15 seconds, before beating Westwood High School 13-7. Coconut Creek is coming off a season where they went 10-3 and won a District Title. They are set to begin the new year in the fall and have games scheduled already with Deerfield Beach, Cardinal Gibbons, Miramar, and Blanche Ely High School.
North Broward Prep played against Westminster Christian Academy after going 5-6 last year. They beat Somerset Academy, Northeast, Coral Springs Charter, Pine Crest, and American Heritage High School, scoring at least 27 points in all the games. They will host Somerset Academy in their first game on August 23.
Monarch played against Dillard High School and lost. The Knights had a historic season in 2023, winning their second straight District Championship and first Regional Title in school history. They will play their first game of the season against Preachtree Ridge High School in the Broward County National Football Showcase on August 22.
Monarch’s Samari Reed was also invited to the US Army Bowl, which features a network of 50 scouts and recruiting partners from around the nation and world to help identify the best players at each grade level and position. Reed had a historic season for the Knights in 2023, catching 56 passes for 1,311 yards. He also scored 15 touchdowns and already has offers to play in college from several of the top programs in teams in the country.
