The artwork of a talented Coral Springs Charter School student is being displayed throughout South Florida after she won an annual art competition.
Tiffany Castro, a junior, was named winner of Feeding South Florida’s 5th Annual “Feed Your Creativity” Art Competition at CSCS. On June 4, the hunger relief organization revealed a semi-trailer truck wrapped with Castro’s artwork, turning the vehicle into a 36-foot moving billboard that travels across the region.
Elementary, middle, and high school students throughout Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade, and Monroe counties were invited to submit artwork for the art competition.
Castro was recognized during a gallery night on May 16 at Feeding South Florida’s Pembroke Park warehouse, where all of the submitted artwork was showcased.
The competition is part of Feeding South Florida’s “Summer Hunger Ends Here” initiative, designed to raise the awareness and funds needed to address summer hunger for South Florida children.
Organizers said that summer months are some of the most difficult times for families because children don’t have access to free or reduced-price school meals. More than 300,000 kids in the region rely on free or reduced meals during the school year, according to Feeding South Florida.
