Celebrate Autism Awareness Month with a free family fun day at the park hosted by Commissioner Kicia Daniel and the City of Tamarac.
“Raising awareness for autism is deeply important to me and vital for our community,” Daniel said, adding that statistically, about 1 in 36 children are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder.
The event, held on Sunday, April 28, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Tamarac Recreation Center, is open to everyone and allows local families with children on the spectrum to connect in a supportive environment.
The fun picnic will include activities for the whole family, sensory stations, delicious food, a game bus and a DJ, a petting zoo, and bounce houses.
“It is a gathering where everyone is welcome to come out and show their support for inclusion and research of autism awareness,” Daniels said, adding that families can actively engage with each other, pressing the importance of understanding, acceptance, and support for individuals with autism.
