Chiffon and Samantha {Broward County Animal Care}
Two loving animals at Broward County Animal Care are hoping their time at the shelter will soon end with forever families of their own.
Chiffon
Chiffon (A2475489) is a 4-year-old spayed female American Staffordshire terrier mix weighing 56 pounds. She arrived at Animal Care in early May after being found as a stray in Coral Springs.
Described as sweet and affectionate, Chiffon enjoys being petted, getting treats, and staying close to her favorite people. Once she feels comfortable, shelter staff say she isn’t shy about handing out plenty of kisses.
Chiffon also loves using her nose to explore, making scent games and nose work good ways to keep her entertained and mentally stimulated at home.
She can be selective with other dogs, so Animal Care recommends her for someone looking for a one-pet household. She also appears to be housebroken and keeps her kennel clean.
During her three months at the shelter, Chiffon has already proved she has plenty of love to give. She recently donated blood to help four anemic puppies in need of transfusions.
Chiffon is vaccinated, spayed and microchipped and can go home the same day she is adopted. Her adoption fee is waived, with adopters responsible only for the $25 Broward County pet registration fee.
Samantha
Also searching for a home is Samantha (A1888207), an 11-year-old spayed female domestic shorthair weighing 10 pounds.
The senior tuxedo cat arrived at the shelter in late July after she was found abandoned inside an apartment with three dogs.
Despite what she has been through, Samantha has maintained her affectionate personality. She enjoys being petted, cozying up with people, eating treats and rolling around in catnip.
Animal Care says Samantha’s friendly demeanor and experience living alongside dogs could make her a good addition to a family with canine companions.
Samantha is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. Her adoption fee is also waived, with only the $25 pet registration fee required.
Chiffon and Samantha are available at Broward County Animal Care, 2400 SW 42nd St. in Fort Lauderdale. The shelter is open for adoptions daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
