From State Rep Christine Hunschofsky:
I hope summer has gotten off to a wonderful start for everyone. This can be a great time when our schedules change a bit with school being out and many activities and events slowing down. It’s also a wonderful opportunity to benefit from some sales tax holidays.
This year, the Florida Legislature once again approved several sales tax holidays. It is a great opportunity to enjoy tax savings while you are planning to enjoy your summer.
- The Freedom Month Sales Tax Holiday runs from July 1 to 31, 2024. During this time, consumers can purchase qualifying recreation and outdoor items, as well as admissions to entertainment and cultural events, exempt from sales tax. For a list of all qualifying items, please visit FloridaRevenue.com/freedommonth.
- The Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday takes place this year from July 29 to August 11. I hope you can take advantage of these sales tax holidays over the summer. FloridaRevenue.com/BackToSchool
- Tool Time Sales Tax Holiday runs from September 1–7, 2024, and includes qualifying tools and equipment such as hand tools, tool belts, power tool batteries, and ladders within a certain price range. For more information, visit FloridaRevenue.com/ToolTime.
If you choose to spend some time closer to home this summer, I recommend exploring some of the wonderful parks we have here in Broward County or even checking out our Florida State parks. Whether you are looking to hike the trails, do some fishing, or kayaking, there is something for everyone to do at our Broward County or Florida State Parks. For more information, visit www.broward.org/parks and www.floridastateparks.org.
Wishing you and your family a safe and happy July 4th! The City of Margate hosts a parade from 9 am to 11:30 am down Margate Boulevard, eastbound from 76th Avenue to State Road 7. Later that day, the City of Margate (5 pm to 9 pm at the NW corner of 441 and Margate Blvd.) and the City of Coral Springs (5 pm to 9 pm at Mullins Park) will be hosting family fun fireworks celebrations.
