Coconut Creek Police Search for Red Civic Involved in Deadly Hit-and-Run Crash.
Coconut Creek Police are asking for the public’s help in tracking down a car involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash.
The molten lava red Honda Civic SI, with a model year sometime between 2018 and 2021, struck and killed a pedestrian on June 26 around 4:40 p.m. in the 400 block of South Lyons Road, near Fern Forest Nature Center, according to Coconut Creek Police spokesman Scotty Leamon.
Police on Tuesday released stock images of a car similar to the one they are searching for. The Civic used in the hit-and-run lost its right-side mirror in the crash, had damage to its front windshield, and likely had damage consistent with swiping a guardrail.
It’s not known whether the Civic still shows that damage or whether repairs have since been made.
Police have not publicly released the name, age, or gender of the pedestrian who died.
The hit-and-run investigation is ongoing, police said.
Anyone with information about the car or the crime is asked to call Coconut Creek Police at 954-973-6700 or to email them at trafficunit@coconutcreek.net.
