One man was fatally shot and another wounded in a shooting in Lauderhill Thursday, police said.
Lauderhill Police said officers arrived at the scene of the shooting at 2041 Northwest 43rd Terr. and found a man lying unresponsive on the ground.
The victim was rushed to Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, where he died, police said.
Shortly after the victim was rushed to the hospital, a second man arrived at Florida Medical Center in Lauderdale Lakes suffering from a gunshot wound, police said. The wound was not considered life-threatening.
Investigators with the Lauderhill Police Criminal Investigative Division and Crime Scene Unit responded to the homicide scene. Preliminary investigation revealed that both victims knew each other and there are “no outstanding suspects at this time,” police said in a news release Friday.
The investigation remains open, and anyone with information about the case is asked to immediately contact the Lauderhill Police Department at 954-497-4700 or Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477 (TIPS).
Thursday’s deadly shooting was the latest incident of gun violence in a city that has seen an alarming increase in shootings in 2023 and 2024. Most recently, a nine-year old boy was struck by a stray bullet during a shooting outside a supermarket on North State Road 7 on Memorial Day.
