Vroom Vroom! Lincoln of Coconut Creek is about to have a new home.
The city commission voted on three items at their Sept. 14 meeting that will pave the way for a new one-story, 25,802-square-foot Lincoln dealership to open at 5501 W. Sample Road, immediately west of the Infiniti of Coconut Creek dealership.
For the Lincoln dealership to be built, the city commission had to consider and vote on three different ordinances. They approved each unanimously on the first reading at their Aug. 24 meeting.
Those ordinances include a site plan and a rezoning request. Before the vote, the property was zoned as the Infiniti of Coconut Creek Planned Development District. Upon final approval, it will be renamed the Infiniti-Lincoln of Coconut Creek Planned Mainstreet Development District.
A third ordinance adds a new section to the city’s land development code titled “Master Business List – Planned Main Street Development District” to specify the permitted and special land uses for the Infiniti-Lincoln of Coconut Creek Planned Mainstreet Development District.
Permitted uses include an auto dealership and automobile body shops, parts, services, and washes that are incidental only to the dealership.
Jay Huebner of HSQ, Inc., on behalf of TT of Sample, the property owner, made the requests on behalf of the new Lincoln dealership.
Before the commission’s approval, the Planning and Zoning Board voted to forward a favorable recommendation supporting the ordinances’ approvals. The approvals, however, come with conditions.
Property owners must address all comments and concerns throughout the development review process, and HSQ, on behalf of TT of Sample, must obtain, at a minimum, bronze certification through the Florida Green Building Coalition within 18 months of the date of receiving the certificate of occupancy.
Ultimately, the city commission unanimously approved each of the ordinances.
“I want to thank [Lincoln] for not only staying in the community and being such a contributing business partner but expanding and helping make Sample Road look really good,” said Vice Mayor Sandy Welch.
