The City of Lauderhill Commission has announced that the Municipal Golf Pro Shop will be renamed the Tyson T. Jones Pro Shop in honor of the late commissioner.
According to the city, Jones, who died in 2022, served from 1993 to 2004. His tenure was marked by strategic foresight and impactful decisions that continue to benefit the city today.
Key achievements under his leadership include the transition to a Commission/City Manager system of government, the introduction of a free City Bus Shuttle, the establishment of the Lauderhill Police Department and the construction of its headquarters, the development of Windermere Park, and the annexation of surrounding communities.
As an avid golfer, Jones was committed to sharing his love of the sport with the community, particularly with young people.
The dedication ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, August 10, at 9:30 a.m. at the Lauderhill Golf Course, 4141 NW 16th St, Lauderhill, FL 33313.
