J.P. Taravella boys and girls cross country took first place in the Coral Springs Championship on Friday.
JPT boys came first with 162 points, followed by Coral Springs High School, Marjory Stoneman Douglas, Coral Springs Charter, and Coral Glades.
The girls finished with 2.5 points in front of CSC for first place, with Coral Springs High school coming in third, followed by Marjory Stoneman Douglas and Coral Glades.
Charles Green, Carson Dunham, and Nikai McNee won two individual events for the boys. Sebastian Merraro won the 400 hurdles, while Green also led the 4 x 100 relay with Jasiah Clapp, Keon Clarke, and TraeJon Roberts to a win. Jaylen Amoa, Christopher Reid Jr., Jasiah Clapp, and Carson Dunham also won the 4 x 100 relay.
Jade Brown took first place in the 100 and 200 meters for the girls. Ajah Arscottt, Qyrah Spann-Pierre, and Aaleyah Marriott also were city champions.
Coral Springs High School’s individual winners were Owen Kaye, Jeffrey Belizaire, Malakai Christian, Leighton Peart, Shaquilea Alvaranga, and Jourdin Gayle. They also won the 4 x 800 relay with Angelica Macarulay, Lea Ramnarace, Jessica Saint-Amand, and Gabriella Gentilhomme.
Michael Discus won the discus for the CSC boys’ team. Lily Richardson and Alexandra Bruno took first in two events, along with Kendall Parrott in the 3200 meters.
For Marjory Stoneman Douglas, James Bronzwaig won the shot put and javelin. The boys’ team also won the 4 x 100 relay with Brandon Allman, Kyle Campbell, Krish Sule, and Connor Stallings. In comparison, the girls won both the 4 x 100 relay featuring Samara Osouna, Emily Balk, Naomi Grissette, and Genesis Casimiroas and the 4 x 400 relay with Ajah Arscottt, Jade Brown, Yamila Elliott, and Qyrah Spann-Pierre. Meredith also took first in the pole vault for the Eagles.
Coral Glades had three individual winners, with Damonie Taylor winning the high jump. Zion Tomlin won the triple jump, and Camille Camper took first in the javelin.
