Bronson and Ernie {Humane Society of Broward County}
As Hurricane Milton approaches, the Humane Society of Broward County has announced that it will be closed to the public on Wednesday and Thursday to ensure the safety of staff and animals.
While the shelter will not be open for adoptions, the animals will still receive care from dedicated staff members.
One furry friend in particular, Bronson (ID 689028), is looking forward to some extra attention during the storm. Bronson, a two-year-old, 60-pound dog, was evacuated from another shelter ahead of Hurricane Helene. Described as one of the sweetest and cuddliest dogs around, Bronson is searching for a loving family who will spoil him and show him what it’s like to be truly loved.
The Humane Society also recently welcomed animals from Manatee County, where shelters evacuated ahead of Hurricane Milton, which is expected to impact Florida’s west coast. Among the new arrivals is Ernie (ID 689519), a seven-year-old cat with a sweet, laid-back personality. Ernie is plump, calm, and ready to relax with his future family.
While the shelter will be closed during the storm, it plans to reopen on Friday, giving potential adopters the perfect opportunity to meet animals like Bronson and Ernie. If you’ve ever considered adopting, now is the time to make a difference.
This weekend, you can visit the Humane Society of Broward County or complete a pre-adoption application at www.humanebroward.com.
The Humane Society of Broward County is located at 2070 Griffin Road in Fort Lauderdale. Adoption kennels open at 11 a.m. on Friday.
