
Mathew Curprew-Elsy {Toro Hoops}
Coral Springs High School basketball star Matthew Curprew-Elsy is officially committed to attending Southeastern Illinois College.
“It feels amazing to commit because that has been the plan since day one,” Curprew-Elsy said. “I wanted to find a program where I can shine and be a better person and player.”
Curprew-Elsy only started playing basketball in eighth grade during quarantine, playing for the Florida Conquerors.
“I learned how to play step by step, and it took me a while to adjust, but I put in work every day to get where I’m at right now, and the job is still not finished,” Curprew Elsy added.
Curpew-Elsy had an incredible senior season for the Colts, averaging 13.9 points and 11.1 rebounds per game. He helped lead CSHS to their first BCAA Title in school history and won Most Valuable Player. He was also a First Team All Broward County Selection and Second Twam All State, helping the Colts win 21 games last year.
At Southeastern Illinois College. Cupprew-Elsy feels like it is a great opportunity and the right school to help him in the future. Despite all his success, he hopes to improve his game by dribbling under pressure, guarding smaller players, making tough shots, and finishing around the basket.
