The Coral Springs High School Marching band has been working hard this fall and has achieved some success.
On November 11, the Marching Colts participated in the Florida Marching Band Championships in St. Petersburg and placed 11th in their category. Then, the band members went to Busch Gardens to celebrate the season and have some fun.
“We did well, and now we are preparing to march in the Coral Springs Holiday Parade,” said Band Director Bryan Ardila. “We have had our share of challenges, and we pushed through to the end.”
The Marching Colts recently participated in the Florida Bandmasters Association 2023 Marching Music Performance Assessment at Cypress Bay High School on October 28 and earned two superior ratings in percussion and auxiliary. The band earned excellent ratings in music, general effects, ensemble, and visual. The band performed its show Dawn on the Horizon.

During the fall, the band performed at all home football games and a competition at Flanagan High School.
Being a Coral Springs High Band member means being part of a large and caring family. There are about 60 members. Fernando Garcia Padron plays guitar in the jazz band and the front ensemble during the marching performances. “It was cool to see other bands at the state competition. We have a good run this fall. I want to become as good as I can with my instrument. Going to Busch Garden was fun,” he said.
Ivan Camacho plays percussion and leads the front ensemble. He loves the band. “It has been fun to perform with the band. I enjoy performing music and hanging out with my friends,” he said.
Jennalys Figueroa, the band captain, plays the flute. “It is fun to be a leader in the band and to promote the band. It was fun to go to the state championship and other competitions. I have made many friends in the band,” she said.
Ardila expects the band to continue to improve. He believes more students will join the band, and the program will earn more accolades.
