In 2020, Lady and the Mug won a Business Excellence Award from the City of Coral Springs.
Owner Aimee Tarte announced that after eight years, the Coral Springs coffee shop Lady and the Mug will close its doors on April 19.
Located at 3111 N University Drive, Tarte has decided not to extend her lease, which expires at the end of May. She cited persistent tenant issues as her primary reason for the closure.
“I’m hanging on to give my staff an opportunity to get unemployment,” Tarte told Coral Springs Talk.
Despite being able to ask for a three-year lease extension, she chose to close early, even at the cost of losing her deposit. “After eight years, I’m going to shut my doors. Per my lease, I have to be open until the end of May,” she said.
Although her lease agreement specifies that she is responsible for pest control, Tarte, who also owns a location in Tampa, claims that ongoing pest control treatments have made it too costly to continue operations.
Tarte also announced that on the shop’s final day, she plans to give away free coffee as a gesture of gratitude to her customers.

Curious as to why article was shortened. Read the original post which points out the property managers weren’t doing their part, at least according to Lady and the Mug but that seems to have disappeared. Did Butters , the management company in question, ask to take it down? If so that points to guilt, if not just respond. Just curious
