It was another eventful week on the football field, highlighted by the Swamp Bowl, senior nights, and a Hall of Fame Indiction.
The Coral Glades football team picked up their third win of the season in a rivalry game on Thursday against J.P. Taravella on Senior Night. The Jaguars are a young team consisting mostly of freshmen and sophomores but recognized seniors John Wooden, Wiston Moise, Tyree Murray, Tut Louis, Tyler Gordon, and Shawn Stewart. The Jaguars will close the regular season with a matchup against Nova High School on Friday, October 25, at 7 p.m. The Titans won the last meeting between these two teams in 2018, 51-7.
Coral Glades also honored the seniors from their other fall teams. The swim team recognized David Conner, Daniel Hernandez, Cameron Myer, and Kacie Stewart Bryan as they prepared for the District Championships. Zariya Louis-Jeane and Quincy Ocasio were honored with the cross-country team. While Louis Jeans did not compete, Ocasio was the 152nd runner to finish. The girls placed 17th overall, and the boys came in 22nd.
Justin Laing and Noah Rosen golf team, who played their last match against Coral Springs Charter before the BCAA Championship. The cheerleading team featured Bulluon, Shea Esposito, Jaelyn Ireland, Malana McCkosky, Abigail Miller, Abril Rico, Alexis Roberts, Rian Sleigman, Jenna Walker, and Justin Winchester.
The band team, which won a competition earlier this year, recognized Daniel Alzate, Alberto Banks, Royce Pierre, Joneyshka Rivera, Ayanna Smith, and Jaydon Woods. They also honored Alexander Abreu, Kylee Gueera, and Kidall Guerra, the seniors from the ROTC team, and Cathy Pierre, the Sports Medicine tarnishing staff.
Coral Springs Charter struggled in their game against North Broward Prep for the second straight year and fell to 2-5 this season. However, this past week featured graduate and NFL star Darius Bulter officially being inducted into the Broward County Hall of Fame. Butler, a 2004 graduate of CSC, was a two-sport star before playing college football at the University of Connecuit and then nine years in the NFL.
For the ninth straight season, Coral Springs High School lost to Marjory Stoneman Douglas in the Pig Bowl. This was the Colts’ seventh straight loss and are 0-7. However, they honored their seniors Jayden Simpson, Antonio Silas, Tony Jones, Zanu Fullerton, Camden Hulse, Jeremian Masse, Tyrese Hardwick, and Imahni Richardson.
The Colts will return on Friday, October 25, at 7 p.m. This will be the first matchup between these two teams since 2014, a 24-14 Coral Springs High School win.
