The City of Coconut Creek is inviting residents and visitors to enjoy a nostalgic summer evening under the stars with its latest edition of Movie in the Park.
On Friday, September 6th, the beloved 1993 film The Sandlot will be screened at Sabal Pines Park, offering a perfect blend of comedy, sports, and childhood memories for the whole family.
The free event will take place on Friday, September 6, with the movie beginning at 7:30 p.m. It will be held at Sabal Pines Park, 5005 NW 39th Avenue.
The Sandlot is a timeless coming-of-age story that has captured the hearts of audiences for decades. Directed by David Mickey Evans and co-written with Robert Gunter, the film is set in the summer of 1962 and follows young Scotty Smalls as he navigates the trials of making new friends in a neighborhood centered around a local sandlot.
Despite his initial lack of baseball skills, Scotty quickly becomes part of a close-knit group of boys, leading to a series of adventures that epitomize the joys and challenges of youth.
A central plot point involves the group’s efforts to retrieve a baseball signed by the legendary Babe Ruth, which accidentally lands in the yard of a mysterious neighbor. What follows is a series of humorous and suspenseful attempts to recover the ball, complicated by the presence of a ferocious dog known as “The Beast.”
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets, chairs, and coolers to enjoy the movie in comfort. However, the city reminds everyone that pets are not allowed at this event.
Sabal Pines Park is located at 5005 NW 39th Avenue.
