Emmanuel Binger {BSO}
A man accused of committing strong-armed robbery at a Coral Springs Dollar Tree was arrested at a nearby 7-11 eating the evidence.
On July 27, the Coral Springs Police Department received reports of a theft and assault at a Dollar Tree store located at 11530 West Sample Road.
According to the report, a cashier reported that a man, later identified as Emmanuel, 26, of Coral Springs, entered Dollar Tree, shopped for a moment, and then approached the cashier line with several items in hand.
The cashier alleges Binger placed the items on the counter and declared he wanted to exchange them. When asked for a receipt, which he did not have, the store manager refused the exchange, which made him verbally aggressive.
Witnesses told CSPD a woman in line gave two dollars in Binger to help resolve the situation. The store manager told him he could select two-dollar items, but he refused and continued being aggressive.
According to the report, the manager took the items, including a bag of BBQ chips, and placed them on the cashier counter, which led to Binger getting in the manager’s face. She repeatedly told Binger not to touch her, but he pushed her aside, grabbed the bag of chips, and exited the store, dropping one dollar on the ground before leaving.
A “Be On the Lookout” (BOLO) alert was issued on the police radio describing Binger. Soon after, an officer located him inside the 7-11 at 11650 West Sample Road.
The report notes that when approached by officers, Binger was eating BBQ chips.
The store manager was brought to the 7-11 for a follow-up and positively Binger as the man who had assaulted her and stolen the chips.
Binger was taken into custody and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
According to statements from Dollar Store employees, Binger had visited the store multiple times over the past few weeks, attempting exchanges and making partial payments for items.
His behavior had grown increasingly aggressive, culminating in the incident that led to his arrest.
