Wally likes chin scratches and lickable treats. Hugo prefers walks, other dogs, and a home without cats. Both are looking for families through Broward County Animal Care.
Wally, a 2-year-old domestic shorthair, arrived at the shelter in late August after being abandoned at a Walmart in Pompano Beach, according to Animal Care. The 10-pound cat is friendly and affectionate, especially when someone pets him or scratches his neck and chin.
Hugo, an 11-year-old Manchester terrier mix, came to the shelter with nine other dogs after their owner died. He was adopted briefly but has returned to Animal Care. The 22-pound dog is housebroken, enjoys people and gets along with other dogs, according to the shelter. He needs a home without cats.
Both pets are neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Their adoption fees are waived, but adopters must pay a $25 county pet registration fee. Hugo also qualifies for Pet Project sponsorship, which provides food, vaccines, monthly preventive care and reduced-cost veterinary care for life after adoption.
Broward County Animal Care is at 2400 SW 42nd St. in Fort Lauderdale. The adoption lobby is open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Prospective adopters can ask for Wally by ID A2480115 or Hugo by ID A1796444 and check current availability at Broward.org/Animal.
