The City of Sunrise will celebrate Independence Day with a full day of family-friendly activities, live entertainment, and fireworks on Saturday, July 4, marking the nation’s 250th anniversary with its “Stars and Stripes: 250 Years of Smiles” celebration.
The festivities begin with the annual parade and Family Fun Day from 9 a.m. to noon at City Park, 6600 Sunset Strip. Patriotic floats and marching groups will travel west along Sunset Strip from Northwest 12th Street before arriving at the park, where families can enjoy a splash pad, playground, inflatable water slide, obstacle course, rock wall and other attractions. Swimsuits are recommended for children participating in the water activities. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
The celebration continues from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. outdoors at Amerant Bank Arena, One Panther Parkway, with free admission and parking.
The evening will feature a performance by Higher Ground, a special appearance by Light Balance, a children’s fun zone, food and beverage vendors, a drone show and a fireworks display following the concert. The event is presented by FCC Environmental Services with support from several community sponsors.
Organizers encourage community groups and businesses to participate in the morning parade and remind attendees that backpacks, oversized bags, coolers, glass bottles, alcohol, weapons, drones, fireworks, pets and bicycles are prohibited in the evening event area. All bags will be subject to inspection.
