A Nov. 23 crash in Pompano Beach left a Coconut Creek man dead, authorities said Tuesday.
Gustavo Rojas Ruiz, 70, of Northwest 39th Avenue, was driving a 1998 Chevrolet S10 northbound in the southbound lanes of Powerline Road when the vehicle collided head-on with a 2008 Volkswagen shortly after 7:50 p.m., according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
Pompano Beach Fire Rescue transported the Jetta’s female driver from the crash scene near the 600 block of North Powerline Road to a local hospital. Authorities said she suffered serious injuries. Her name was not made public by BSO.
Paramedics pronounced Rojas Ruiz dead at the scene.
The crash is being investigated by BSO traffic homicide detectives, authorities said.
