Calypso Cove is set to undergo some renovations if the city commission approves the project funding.
The commission will consider an item to install an all-ages aquatic play center at a cost not to exceed $604,727.32. The funding comes as part of a parks bond improvement project.
The city would utilize a contract with Vortex Aquatic Structures International through the National Purchasing Partners RFP 2060, titled “Park, Playground and Recreational Equipment.”
According to city documents, the activity center at Calypso Cove includes components specifically catered to families, teens, and toddlers.
The proposed activity center has ten decks with 30 play features.
These features include three spray cannons, two spray bars, cascade basins, a blossom twirl, a panel spinner, an aquadome, three deck geysers, a dumping bucket with city branding, a supersplash, a shade roof, three water domes, six water slides.
Calypso Cove’s proposed activity center comes as various improvements to the aquatic center are proposed or in progress. These include improvements to the lazy river, private cabanas, and additional shade umbrellas proposed when voters approved a $10 million bond in 2018.
The commission will consider the activity center item at their Oct. 18 meeting, starting at 7 p.m.
