A pair of high school volleyball teams in Coral Springs were able to honor their seniors while the postseason bracket was also released.
Coral Springs High School
Coral Springs High School honored Shanecia Mustafa, Tatianna Faison, Rebecca Assena, Kaylah Pinkney, and Kaylee Belliard before they beat Dillard High School for their second win. They had a win earlier this year against Dillard and won and played two five-set matches this year and one in four sets against Pompano Beach High School.
The Lady Colts will be the sixth seed in the District Tournament and will play Deerfield Beach High School in their first postseason game on Wednesday, October 15, at 4:30 p.m. The Bucks are 12-3 this year and won earlier this year against CSHS.
Coral Glades
On Monday, Coral Glades held senior night against J.P. Taravella and recorded a five-set win. The Lady Jaguars won 25-11, 22-25,25-8,23-25-29-8 while honoring Aryanna Blanco, Megan Cecil, Paula Ochoa-Anzola, Lindsey Perlmutter, Saniyah Tulloch, Jessica Fele, and Kamika Rivas.
Coral Glades previously won five sets this year against Nova High School and also won over Hollywood Hills and Charles W. Flanagan High School. They are set to play as the fifth seed and will play Monarch High School in their first playoff game on Tuesday, October 14, at 4 p.m. The Knights went 4=10 this year and lost to the Jaguars in four sets in their only matchup earlier this season.
J.P. Taravella
J.P. Taravella was supposed to complete their season with matches on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, but they have all been postponed. If the games are not made up, they will head into the postseason with a record of 6-8, beating Dillard, Blanche Ely, Plantation, Stranahan, Coconut Creek, and Miramar High School.
JPT is the seventh seed and will play Marjory Stoneman Douglas in its first playoff game on Tuesday, October 14, at 7 p.m. The Eagles are seeded second and have seven within 15 matches this year.
Coral Springs Charter
Coral Springs Charter was scheduled to play its final home match of the season on Thursday against South Broward High School, but the match was postponed. The team’s seniors are Emily Nestor, Lara Demoraes, Fernando Ramos, Marcelo Jimenez, Jordyn Lustig, Angelina Clark, Carly Pot, Maria Martinez, Elizabeth Carrasco, Anna Lee, and Hunter Crawford.
The Panthers are 10-7 this year but have dropped three of their past four matches, including a four-set loss against North Broward Prep on Monday. They previously beat Pembroke Pines Charter and Pompano Beach High School in five sets, recorded four-set victories over Monarch High School, and beat Hollywood Hills, NSU University, Coral Glades, Chaminade Madonna, Fort Lauderdale, West Broward, and Coral Springs High School in three sets.
CSC heads into the postseason as the fifth seed and will play Cardinal Gibbons High School in their first playoff match on Tuesday, October 14, at 6 p.m. The Chiefs are seeded fourth and went 10-12 this year.
