Piper High School Football Team. {Bengal Broadcast}
The Piper High School football team opened its season with a strong defensive performance, recording a 6-0 win in the Kickoff Classic on Friday against Doral Academy.
The lone score came from Robert Khan late in the fourth quarter as the Bengals broke a scoreless tie. Johnathan Rivers and D’Joshua Marc each recorded an interception, while Rivers also forced a fumble. Stone Campbell and John Hodge both recovered fumbles, while Jatavius Groove blocked a kick. Immanuel Reed added a sack, while Jonah Julien and Jeremiah Davis led the team in tackles as Piper’s defense kept its opponent off the scoreboard.
Piper is coming off a 7-5 season that included a playoff victory over Charles W. Flanagan High School. The Bengals will begin the regular season against Dillard High School on Friday, Aug. 21 at 7 p.m. Dillard went 10-1 last season, with its only loss coming against Plantation High School in the playoffs.
