Fifth Suspect Extradited to Broward in Deadly Bowling Alley Shooting

A fifth suspect has been extradited to Broward County on murder charges in a deadly shooting that took place after the victims left Strikers Bowling Alley.

According to a Broward County Sheriff’s Office arrest report, Matthew Holloway, 21, of Pompano Beach, surrendered on August 13 to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in Monticello before being returned to Broward County.

Holloway faces one count of first-degree murder and three counts of attempted first-degree murder in connection with the May 8 shooting that killed 19-year-old O’Mari Doe and injured 20-year-old Maurice Vorroto.

According to a Broward Sheriff’s Office arrest affidavit, the events leading up to the shooting began hours earlier at Strikers Bowling Alley, located at 8500 Northwest 44th Street in Sunrise.

Investigators said Vorroto and a group of friends arrived at Strikers at approximately 10:00 p.m. on May 7 and stayed until the bowling alley closed at midnight. The group then left in a Ford Mustang, dropping off passengers before heading to a residence in North Lauderdale.

Detectives allege that a black Honda Accord followed the Mustang before cutting it off as the Mustang arrived at the residence. A witness told investigators that five armed men stepped from the Accord and, within less than a minute, allegedly began firing into the vehicle.

Deputies responding at approximately 1:03 a.m. found Doe unresponsive in the driver’s seat after the vehicle had crashed into a tree. He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was later pronounced dead at Broward Health North. Vorroto was found outside the vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound and other injuries.

According to the affidavit, following the arrests of four other suspects, investigators obtained a warrant for Holloway’s arrest as the alleged fifth suspect.

BSO investigators also obtained records for a phone associated with Holloway. According to the affidavit, the device connected to a cell tower serving the area around Strikers Bowling Alley shortly after midnight, then moved north toward North Lauderdale.

Holloway is currently being held without bond at the Broward County Main Jail.
