Coral Glades continues to excel in the classroom, improving a full letter grade from a C to a B, according to a new report from the Florida Department of Education.

“Coral Glades has been working extremely hard on improving student outcomes by focusing on day-to-day and bell-to-bell instruction,” said Principal Mark Kaplan, adding that they are focusing on the new standards as well as teaching style to make classes rigorous and relevant, which has resulted in a huge jump in students demonstrating mastery of standards.

Coral Glades had an overall five-point improvement in math, including a 10-point improvement in Algebra 1 and three-point improvement in geometry.

They also had a 15-point improvement in Biology, a six-point improvement in US History, and a one percent improvement in graduation rate.

“These results are significant because there were no learning gains calculated, which is usually a large help to high schools,” Kaplan added.
