The Broward Sheriff’s Office is helping residents safely dispose of unwanted prescription medications and sensitive documents at its free Operation Medicine Cabinet and Shred-A-Thon event on Saturday, October 25.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sam’s Club, located at 13550 West Sunrise Boulevard.
Residents who turn in unused or expired prescription medications will receive a $5 gift card, while supplies last. Needles and sharp objects will not be accepted.
In addition to the medication drop-off, attendees can bring up to two boxes of personal documents for secure shredding. Each box should measure no more than 16 inches long, 12 inches wide, and 12 inches high.
The event is part of BSO’s ongoing effort to promote public safety and environmental responsibility by keeping prescription drugs out of the wrong hands and reducing the risk of identity theft through document shredding.
