What happens when an Orthodox rabbi and a Reform Jewish journalist team up to study and debate the Torah?
Readers will find out in It Takes Two to Torah: An Orthodox Rabbi and Reform Journalist Discuss and Debate Their Way Through the Five Books of Moses. Authors Abigail Pogrebin and Rabbi Dov Linzer will bring their unique perspectives to Tamarac.
Held on Wednesday, January 8, at 7 p.m. during a special event at Temple Beth Torah Sha’aray Tzedek (TBTST) at 5700 NW 94th Avenue.
The pair’s book tour stop at TBTST, their only one in Broward County, will involve a dialogue about finding common ground among differing beliefs.
“We are honored and excited to have these distinguished writers come to our synagogue,” said Stewart Klawsky, TBTST Congregational President. “In these challenging times, it is inspirational to see how people from such different backgrounds show genuine warmth and respect for one another while being honest about their differences.”
TBTST co-rabbis Rami Pavolotzky and Daniel Szuster praised the book, calling it “a unique and delightful journey to explore the weekly Torah portion” that demonstrates the value of dialogue.
Pogrebin, a journalist and former president of Central Synagogue in New York City, is the author of Stars of David and My Jewish Year. Rabbi Linzer, president of Yeshivat Chovevei Torah, is a thought leader in Modern Orthodoxy.
The event is free for TBTST members and $18 for non-members. After the presentation, books, which can be pre-ordered for $25, will be signed.
To reserve a seat, visit www.TBTST.org or call (954) 721-7660 ext. 110. Complimentary parking is available.
