{City of Sunrse}
The City of Sunrise will host its annual Earth Day Festival on Saturday, April 18, offering residents a morning of eco-friendly activities, live entertainment, and community engagement.
The free event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sunrise Amphitheater, where families can explore interactive exhibits, enjoy live music, and learn more about sustainability efforts in South Florida.
Centered around this year’s theme, “Reduce, Reuse, Rewild,” the festival will feature educational booths, children’s activities, food trucks, and eco-focused demonstrations designed to promote environmental awareness and conservation.
One of the highlights of the event is a tree giveaway for Sunrise Utilities customers, with a variety of species available while supplies last. Experts will be on hand to help residents select the right tree for their property, reinforcing the city’s commitment to green living.
The schedule includes an opening ceremony, a tree planting for Arbor Day, and an awards presentation for a local poster contest. Live music from the Crossthread Band will run throughout the event, while indoor programming includes an eco-themed game show and a workshop on protecting butterflies hosted by Flamingo Gardens.
Attendees can also participate in hands-on sustainability efforts, including composting demonstrations and recycling education. Organizers encourage visitors to bring reusable water bottles and bags, carpool or bike to the event, and take part in the city’s efforts to make the festival carbon neutral.
Food trucks offering a variety of options, from gourmet popsicles to international cuisine, will be on-site, along with lawn games and open space for families to relax and enjoy the atmosphere.
