Sugar Bae, located at 8253 Sunset Strip, was ordered shut on August 7 after inspectors found six violations.
According to the Florida Department of Health inspection report, live roaches were discovered in several areas of the kitchen. Inspectors reported roaches inside the dishwashing machine, underneath a freezer, crawling on a wall next to the triple sink, and beneath a food warmer.
The restaurant was also cited for temperature-control issues involving cheese and cooked potatoes. A stop-sale order was also issued because some food was deemed unsafe due to temperature abuse.
The August 7 closure was not the first for Sugar Bae. The restaurant was also ordered closed in August 2025 following a roach-related inspection.
Häagen-Dazs inside Sawgrass Mills, at 12801 West Sunrise Boulevard, was ordered closed July 29 after inspectors documented seven violations.
Inspectors reported finding roaches in the preparation area. According to the inspection report, live roaches were found inside a trash bag beneath the triple sinks, underneath a vacuum cleaner, and crawling beneath the sinks.
Inspectors also found sticky traps underneath the triple sinks, indicating the store was aware of a roach issue.
Inspectors said the establishment was operating with an expired Division of Hotels and Restaurants license, which expired on December 1.
Both sweat treat locations were ordered to address the issues and pass a reinspection before reopening to customers.
