Seamus and Chicha {Broward County Animal Care}
Two American Staffordshire terrier mixes are looking for loving homes this week at Broward County Animal Care, where adoption fees are waived for all pets.
Seamus (A2472883), a 5-year-old neutered male weighing 55 pounds, has spent the past four months recovering after arriving at the shelter in early March as an injured and depressed stray.
According to Broward County Animal Care, Seamus had large open wounds on his shoulder and neck, abrasions on his face, fleas, and severely irritated skin when he was found.
After months of care, he has fully recovered.
Shelter staff and volunteers describe Seamus as a sweet, friendly dog who appears to be housebroken. Although he can bark while in his kennel due to the stress of shelter life, they say he is affectionate and would thrive in a home.
Seamus is vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped and is available for same-day adoption. His adoption fee is waived, and adopters only pay the required $25 Broward County pet registration fee.
Also searching for a family is Chicha (A2477937), a 2-year-old female American Staffordshire terrier mix weighing 47 pounds.
Chicha arrived at the shelter in late June after she and another dog were found abandoned in a park, tied to separate trees.
Animal Care staff describe Chicha as an affectionate dog who enjoys attention and giving kisses. While she can be shy in unfamiliar surroundings, she becomes playful and energetic once she feels comfortable.
Before going home, Chicha will be spayed, vaccinated against rabies, microchipped, and tested for heartworm. Her adoption fee is also waived, with adopters responsible only for the $25 county pet registration fee.
Broward County Animal Care is located at 2400 SW 42nd St. in Fort Lauderdale and is open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
