Ex-HealthTrust VP Charged in $100,000 Corporate Credit Card Fraud Scheme

A woman was arrested after surrendering to Sunrise Police on multiple felony warrants accusing her of orchestrating a years-long corporate fraud scheme exceeding $100,000.

According to a Sunrise Police Department arrest report, Lisa Maria Acevedo, 51, of Boca Raton, and former vice president at HealthTrust Workforce Solutions, was charged with one count of organized scheme to defraud exceeding $50,000 and two counts of criminal use of personal identification information exceeding $5,000.

Investigators allege that Acevedo misappropriated company credit cards belonging to subordinates using her position of authority between 2019 and 2024. Investigators say she falsified expense reports to disguise personal purchases as business-related charges.

Court documents state that the investigation began in February 2024, when Healthtrust reported the misuse of company credit cards for the preceding five years. The company’s internal review estimated losses well above $100,000.

Records show that Acevedo allegedly charged personal expenses from major retailers, including Amazon, Ticketmaster, Nike, White House Black Market, Publix, and SunPass, using corporate American Express cards.

Records indicate subpoenas served to those companies revealed $40,776 in Ticketmaster transactions on Acevedo’s personal account, $20,407 in Amazon purchases, $7,227 at Nike, $951 at White House Black Market, $4,817 at Publix near her Boca Raton home, and $271 in SunPass toll charges.

Investigators said Acevedo also used the corporate card of a subordinate without consent, fabricating or altering reports to obtain company reimbursement. That employee later provided a statement confirming that he had neither authorized nor made the charges.

On September 29, Acevedo, accompanied by her attorney, voluntarily turned herself in at the Sunrise Police Department. She was booked into the Broward County Main Jail.
